Each year, the Winnipeg Minor Basketball Association runs two basketball seasons. Dakota participates in both.
The Fall/Winter season runs from mid-October until mid-March with sign-up at the club in early September.
This season consists of 16 regular season games and two playoff games.
After the first 8 games of the seasons, teams are re-aligned into divisions with other teams with similar records
(i.e. seeding takes place to ensure teams of similar strength play each other).
The Spring season runs from early-April until mid-June with sign-up at the club in early March.
The Spring season consists of 8 games and two playoff games.
The Winnipeg
Minor Basketball Association is
the largest basketball league in
the city. During the last
Fall/Winter season, players
between the ages of 5 and 18 made
up 230 teams from 42 community
centres throughout the city.
Dakota
Community Centre is one of
the largest members of the WMBA,
in terms of both numbers of
players and number of teams!
The
goal of our program is to ensure
each player has fun while learning and
enhancing their basketball skills.
